Bug Description

Booted my 24.04 Ubuntu MATE Desktop on my PC. PC booted up as normal.

After 5 minutes, clicked 'System' > 'Administrator' > 'Software Updater'.

This opened as normal, and then 'Checking for updates' is shown, then after a short amount of time, indicated is:

'Updated Software is available for this Computer. Do you want to install it now?

'Details' is clicked.

Underneath 'details of updates' - 70.1MB will be Downloaded.

But blank/nothing is shown underneath 'details of updates'.

If 'Install now' is clicked. a screen very quickly is shown 'waiting for authorization' then 'updating Snaps'.

You then return to 'Updated Software is available for this Computer. Do you want to install it now?

and so on in a loop.

(Apologies if I have submitted this correctly - my first time!)

Thank you for your bug report. Could you share the output of

$ apt list --upgradable

Do you have any warning/error printed on the cmdline if you start update-manager from there?

affects: ubuntu-desktop-provision → update-manager
Changed in update-manager:
status: New → Incomplete

Some further information.

System was checked for updates, manually, and 'Updated Software is available for this Computer. Do you want to install it now?

(A few updates were visible Mongo DB, and some other system files).

These updates were accepted and PC was updated.

Another check was then manually invoked.

Same thing as above occurred:

'Updated Software is available for this Computer. Do you want to install it now?

'Details' is clicked.

Underneath 'details of updates' - 70.1MB will be Downloaded.

But blank/nothing is shown underneath 'details of updates'.

If 'Install now' is clicked. a screen very quickly is shown 'waiting for authorization' then 'updating Snaps'.

You then return to 'Updated Software is available for this Computer. Do you want to install it now?

and so on in a loop.

Thanks again.
