Bug Description

As of writing, awscli is available on focal, jammy, and mantic. However it is not yet available for noble, despite being available for debian sid: https://packages.debian.org/sid/awscli

Looking at the publishing history for the package (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/awscli/+publishinghistory) it looks like it was removed because it failed to build. See also https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1064307 for more details.

Hi,

as this affected me at my $DAYJOB i tried to fix it on our CI builds. And i think i managed to install it and made it work.

Based on the comment from Uli Schlachter in the debian bug report (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1064307#10) i came up with a solution to patch it using the source package from ubuntu oracular. See the attached file (needs to be run as root).
