The notification icon is sometimes blurry with the new tango style icon

This *IS* a tango icon, the problem is in the rendering of the icon; so IMO this bug would be closed as INVALID; or be dependant of the scaling icon problem in GNOME bug tracker.

True, increasing the panel size to 26 or higher makes the icon look as it should. It's just not rendered properly below that size.

It looks like the difference is due to the icon size. bluez-gnome has 1 svg and 3 png icon. The png icon are 1 for 22x22, 32x32 and 48x48 sizes each.
It is my personal opinion that an svg icon should be used when it is available. But I have no knowledge how exactly icon selection works. You should probably report the bug in GNOME bugzilla.

SVG cannot be used for tiny icons because they are not sharp enough;
that's why there is small pixellized versions.

This is something we're *not* going to address in Ubuntu. I'm with Baptiste Mille-Mathias that we close this as invalid for Ubuntu.
