Bug Description

I recently noticed that windows have been resizing when I click in "dead" spaces near the top, and the windows are maximised. E.g. when I'm trying to click on a tab in my browser, but miss the button. If the window is maximised when I click, the window is resized. I'm used to this happening while double clicking, but now it happens on single clicks.

After deactivating the Ubuntu Tiling Assistant in the Extensions manager, the problem goes away. I have tried changing a lot of the extension's settings to see if the problem persists, but the only solution I have found to be working is to deactivate the extension entirely.

Those "dead" spaces might be used for window dragging so it's possible your click is actually doing a tiny window drag, which triggers tiling assistant.

The window behaves differently when dragged, I think. I tried lifting the mouse to rule out any dragging movement, but the window still resizes. I'll attach a video to illustrate. Description:
The window is maximized at the start of the video. I move the mouse pointer to the menu bar, physically lift the mouse and click one time. I then maximize the window again by double clicking, and retry the single click one more time. Same result. The position the window goes to indicates that it is not actually being dragged.

I see now that this only happens in certain apps. Among them Brave Browser and JupyterLab Desktop. Brave Browser has an option to "Use system title bar and borders", and when this is active, the resizing does not happen when clicking the system title bar.
