gnome-appearance-properties won't start Compiz

Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-control-
Compiz worked OOTB during and after the install.
After I disabled it in gnome-appearanc
It does work when running it via the terminal, though:
$ compiz

Unfortunately there is absolutely no error message whatsoever when starting gnome-appearanc
