Nvidia driver 550 fails to install any kernel module on Noble

Nvidia driver 550 fails to install any kernel module on Noble.

I've tried installing it multiple times through 'Additional Drivers' and on the command line. The nvidia 550 packages install successfully but no kernel module is installed.

This problem does NOT occur with 470, 535 or 545.

Hmm now 470 is failing with the same problem. I think my installation is broken in some other way.

I fixed it by purging all nvidia-related packages and rebooting. After that, Nvidia drivers installed correctly again.

Maybe it's bug 1975650 which I've seen other people reporting for some time.
