Xpad fails on Kubuntu, even with window decorations

Bug Description
On a fresh install of kubuntu 23.10, sticky notes don't show content. Right-click in sticky window to close it, has a lag over 10 seconds. Then it either shuts down, or suddenly the content appears. This is with or without window decorations enabled. Opening new windows from the app icon in the tray is intermittent.

Would you mind to start Xpad from the command-line (first shut it down)?
This might show some warnings and errors.
If any, please share.
Also which version of Xpad are you using?
