Bug Description

If I start lollypop the desktop crashes and I have to login again. This bug report is the first action afterwards. Starting ubuntu-bug and thus firefox I get strange error messages, see annex. It looks like we are in a gtk2/3 chaos again.

I have installed the development editions shortly after it has been released and kept it nicely up to date till now.

The whole issue is related to Virtualbox too, without 3D acceleration all appss crash; with 3D acceleration they work.

In 23.10 I use VBox 7.14 and Linux 6.5 everything should work and it works if I use 3D acceleration for the Display. If I don't use it, lollypop; exaile; gthumb crash the desktp, when starting those apps.
In 24.04 I use development editions of VBox because of Linux 6.8 everything should work and it works if I use 3D acceleration for the Display. If I don't use it, lollypop; exaile; gthumb crash the desktop, when starting those apps.

I tried a new install of Ubuntu Budgie with the same effects, it crashes the desktop, when starting lollypop; exaile; gthumb, but when I use 3D acceleration for the display it works.

If I use Ubuntu 24.04 all those apps work as expected: with or without 3D acceleration. In Xubuntu 24.04 Lollypop also works fine, like in Ubuntu.

It looks like there is some incompatibilty between some flavors and virtualbox.
