Bug Description

Binary package hint: kaffeine

Kaffeine doesn't pick up the correct channel numbers for UK digital terrestrial channels (Freeview). For example, BBC News 24 should be channel 80, BBC One should be channel 1. Kaffeine seems to add the channels in a completely random order.

This is true in the current version in gutsy and in gutsy-backports, so I assume it is also like this in hardy.

Not sure if this is a bug or broken by design.

The latest snapshot in Karmic does finally allow you to edit the channel numbers to their logical channel number (LCN), however it still defaults to ordering the channels by name every time you start Kaffeine and still doesn't pick up the channel number when it scans.
