i also have a lenovo t61p with nvidia, and it has problems hibernating.

the suspend is working fine as expected, i have suspended many consecutive times without problems.
currently using kernel: 2.6.24-12-generic #1 SMP Wed Mar 12 22:31:43 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

however, hibernation just fails. it seems to save the status but on resume it fails.

looking forward to have a hibernation available on a laptop with ubuntu,

Nicolas

Christophe, could you please explain why this is not a bug report? I see a real problem here that needs to be fixed. Resume should not result in a blank screen.

This issue is not related to yelp. Actually, it was reported in yelp by mistake, according to the reporter's blog. Marking as Invalid in yelp.

I'm seeing problems with resume too. In my case, however, i don't get a black screen. Instead, graphics comes up, but I see a screen-filling gray window.

Suspend-to-disk doesn't work at all in this configuration, it crashes while resuming.

I can confirm this. Only happens when the restricted NVIDIA driver is enabled/in use.
Thinkpad T61p.

I have this on an HP Pavilion dv6709AX. It seems to be intermittent, sometimes I get the unlock password request, the rest of the time a blank grey screen with a mouse pointer that works.

Sam, I can you please confirm that this is not the same as bug #202413?

Alexander, I tried following http://intertwingly.net/blog/2008/04/28/Sleep-Quirks-Debugged and it hasn't fixed my problem. If this is the same as #202413, do you know of another bug that more closely matches Andreas and my symptoms?

I'm finding the distinction between blank/black a bit confusing. What I am experiencing is a blank, light grey screen with a mouse pointer, not a _black_ screen. I would like to make sure that this is clearly reported as it's own bug.

Sorry, Max, I don't know much about these bug reports and don't have any of the relevant hardware to test things either. You can use the Launchpad search feature to look for similar bugs that have already been reported. I guess you should file another bug report if the workarounds described here and in bug #202413 don't help. Your hardware (HP Pavilion dv6709AX) is not the same as Lenovo Thinkpad T61, so the problem you experience might be a totally unrelated one.

Hi rubys,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
