Bug Description

The /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf script in 24.04 attempts to call `resolvconf` with a device/interface that looks like `tun0.openvpn` when the actual interface is just `tun0`. This results in the up script failing with the following error, at least with the default of `resolvconf` being a frontend for resolvectl:

> Failed to resolve interface "tun0.openvpn": No such device

I think that either `update-resolv-conf` should be updated to not include the `.openvpn` suffix, or the `resolvconf` command should be changed to handle stripping the "PROG" part of the IFACE.PROG" string.

Thank you for taking the time to file this bug report, however there isn't really enough information here for a developer to confirm this issue is a bug, or to begin working on it, so I am marking this bug Incomplete for now.

If you can provide exact steps so that a developer can reproduce the original problem, then please add them to this bug and change the status back to New.
