Control center is shown twice when editing menu

Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-applets
There is a strange behavior with the control center entry when editing the main menu.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Right click on the main menu and select "Edit Menus".
2. Select System --> Preferences on the left and "Control Center" on the right.
3. Another "Control Center" entry appears just above the selected one. (This cannot be selected as it becomes deselected after a while -- not useful though).
However, the "Control Center" entry is reflected correctly on the main menu.
This happened with Gutsy and Hardy.
I am attaching a screenshot showing the problem.

I can confirm this on an up-to-date hardy heron.
