The Scan Item as Missing Pieces does not work on Lost Itmes properly.

If you have an open circulation for a lost item and use the Circulation -> Scan Item as Missing Pieces function, the processes silently fails due COPY_NOT_AVAILABLE, and COPY_STATUS_LOST errors. Looking at the logs it appears the item status of Damaged (or the status assigned in the Item Status for Missing Pieces library setting) goes through but renew circulation process is rolled back to due COPY_NOT_AVAILABLE, and COPY_STATUS_LOST errors. Depending on the library status this is preventing Evergreen from voiding lost fees, Lost processing fees and reinstating overdue fees.

If you the org unit Library settings are set to void any lost fees and/or Lost processing fees on checking, the lost fees will continue to stay on the patrons record. This happens even if the item is checked in again due to the item status no longer being set to "Lost".
