the following operations freeze the system :

1 - open a jpg image with gimp

2- detach the menus :
image/mode
filter/artistic

3 - convert the image into indexed mode (64 colors)
4 - re-convert into rvb mode
5 - apply cartoon filter

and the system freeze

Note : compiz is active on the two systems

Hi Fabrice,
thanks a lot for your bug report. In order to help fixing the bug, could you please add the following information:
- Version of ubuntu you are running and
- Version of gimp where the error occurs.

Additionally, (I am not sure if this is because I am not very experienced with gimp) how do you detach the menus you mentioned?
Thanks for you help.

It is alright to have hardy bugs reported here! Thanks a lot for the update.
Unfortunately I do not have a hardy installation at the moment. Thus I cannot test it. However, I will mark this as triaged.

Oops, just figured out that I cannot set status to triaged. However, I cannot confirm since I do not have the same version. Maybe someone else can take a look at this. Thanks and sorry for the mistake.

Why do you want to set this as triaged if you haven't reproduced the bug at all? Triaged means that you confirmed the bug and a developer can start working on this to get it fixed, please do not tend to set status you don't know about, it'll only create confusion instead. you may want to take a look to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToTriage first, thanks.

Does the bug happens without compiz? can you attach that jpg image to the report? are you running a i386 system or x64 one?

i didn't managed to reproduce the bug without compiz

the system used is a i386 one

the image tested is attached (but seems not to be very important to reproduce the bug)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.
