The crash seems to be related to the fglrx drivers.
I tried using mythfrontend (remote) using the ati driver and everythings working fine. Then switched back to fglrx and mythfrontend will not shut down properly.

I think this will be another bug, but with fglrx the sound of of tv is shoppy and video is not playing on after a few seconds. Here also no problem with ati driver.

This is the output what happens now, when I try to watch tv via my notebook, which is the remote frontend, fglrx driver enabled.
On my backend/frontend combo with mythbuntu 7.10 and the latest weekly builds and nvidia card everything is running fine.

Frontend is still crashing, when I try to shut it down properly. You need the dump of it, tell me.

Can you try either of the following options and see if it resolves it? If so, then perhaps this is just a dupe of 197639.

Option "VideoOverlay" "on"

Option "TexturedVideo" "on"

Sven: Is the crashing on quit fixed? Or just the choppy playback?

I've been victims of both. Adding the suggested bits to xorg.conf certainly cures the choppy playback, but I still get a crash upon exiting the recordings menu after watching a recording.

I notice bug #206156 is from Sven as well... if that's the crash mentioned in this ticket, can we change the summary/description for this one to deal only with the choppy playback?

Choppy playback is gone. Works fine now for me.

Yesterday, the app didn't shut down porperly again, so I had to kill it again. But today it shut down well, but I guess this is due to the update of the kernel and the fglrx-modules from today.

You can change the the topic name as you like, because I don't know how to do it.
