"Launchpad Login Failed. Please try logging in again." error when trying to login to askubuntu.com

Login to askubuntu.com by means of launchpad.net oauth is not working.
Error message is:
"Launchpad Login Failed. Please try logging in again."

Test case:
- Login to launchpad.net
- Login to askubuntu.com by means of "Login with Launchpad" button.
- Error appears.

The problem appeared about 6 months ago.

Hi Anton, the screenshot provided on the related Ask Ubuntu question doesn't appear to be of a page or an error message from Launchpad. While I was able to reproduce this issue with my Launchpad account, I do not see anything on the Launchpad side that could indicate an issue on our side. The code that handles this has not been changed recently at all. So I request you to get this checked on the Ask Ubuntu side and get back to us with relevant information, if any, that indicates that there is some issue with Launchpad.

I experienced this today.

I arrive at Launchpad and see the attached page on Launchpad.

Whichever of the options I choose login fails when I get back to Ask Ubuntu.

I do, however, get a mail from Launchpad about creating an OAuth token.

Since login with the other providers works, this might easily be an issue in Launchpad.

I logged out on launchpad, cleared cookies, re-attempted to login on askubuntu and it failed but it has logged me in here... so what is going on, some specific connection to askubuntu?

still an issue. i cannot login via launchpad more than a YEAR. ridiculous.

I've at last solved this problem for myself by contacting Askubuntu support (https://askubuntu.com/contact).
In the request I asked to merge my accounts (Launchpad based and another one) into another. Support team reacted and done that fast. Now I do not need anymore Launchpad account to use https://askubuntu.com

Everything in this two accounts as I see were merged into one normally: all questions, all answers, reputation were preserved.

Also I've requested Askubuntu support team to fix this problem to be able to login with Launchpad accounts again. But by now there are no comments about that from their side.

@anton-samokat That's not a solution, that's a workaround, since it doesn't solve the problem of not being able to login in via launchpad.
