onboard crashes on fedora 39

Incidentally, this is with x11. With Wayland it doesn't crash, but doesn't output characters in editable fields, either. Neither does the displayed onboard keyboard update accordings to shift and alt keys.

This crash is probably the same as https://bugs.launchpad.net/onboard/+bug/2064570
