Can you provide some more information about what error message you are getting on the screen?
It is very hard to track down errors if I don't have any error message to go by.

This looks like something went wrong during the generation of the initramfs image;
can you try a daily install (available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/)
and see if that works better?

I'm also reassigning the bug to Jeff Bailey who is the initramfs guru, but I'll leave myself
in Cc.

I have installed the daily version from 2005-09-30 on the scsi-device sda5.
in the installation stage 1 following error messages are dispayed:
"Unable to install initrd-tools
An error was returned while trying to install the initrd-tools package
onto the target system.
Check /target/var/log/bootstrap.log for the detailes."

The dataset /var/log/bootstrap.log is not present on the target partition.
