Bug Description

I don't have any information beyond the fact that dpkg failed during an upgrade from 23.04 to 23.10. If it's relevant, this dist upgrade was immediately after updating from 22.10 to 23.04 (with a reboot in between).

The upgrade process automatically ran "dpkg configure -a", which ran successfully. It's not clear to me why the initial upgrade process failed, but I think you can probably close this issue unless you see something suggesting a deeper problem.

I tried install + upgrade in a container and didn't see the same issue.
Furthermore kinetic is long time out of date and even the target of the upgrade lunar soon is.

I do not see in the logs why exactly it would fail, but unless we get it reported on active releases I think as well that we can close it for now. Still thanks for reporting, you never know when it is the bit of into that helps for something big ...
