network-manager-openvpn not working

configured a openvpn vpn tunnel with x509 certificate. after clicking on the configured vpn tunnel in network manager applet, it asks me for the certificate password, but the vpn tunnel is not working. this is a snippet of /var/log/daemon.log, even if the certificate password is wrong

Are you able to get this to work by using the openvpn client? If so, could you post the configuration file?

I am having the exact same problem. If I run with the attached config file it works fine.

Could you also export the configuration you are using in network-manager-openvpn and attach it?

This is interesting... after reboot it works now. I installed the VPN support for network manager and the menu options become available. If NM was indeed restarted (I thought it was), I think it odd a machine reboot would make a difference.

I had exactly the same experience - although network manager restarted after the installation of network-manager-openvpn, until I actually restarted my machine any attempt to connect through the vpn failed.

After restarting, it connected properly, and this time actually displayed something in the NM applet when I tried to connect. I suspect something other than Network Manager needs to be restarted.

Confirmed! Had problem getting my connection to work (just installed n-m-openvpn) but I had it working from CLI. After rebooting my connection worked!

I have certificate and config made by Ipcop firewall. network-manager-openvpn worked before these latest updates but now it works only from command line with sudo. Rebooting does not help.

Aaron Kurtz hit the nail on the head. After installing nm openvpn stuff it looks like nm was unable to communicate with dbus. NM was saying it couldn't find secrets. After restarting everything worked. I attached part of the daemon log that occured when trying to connect.
