Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

MTP support is still not working with the latest Banshee update on an iRiver Clix 2 portable player. I know it works flawlessly because I had built it from SVN stable a month ago on OpenSUSE 10.3 and it worked (along with syncing album art). libmtp7 is installed as well.

Changes:
 banshee (0.13.2+dfsg-8) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/control,
     debian/rules:
     + Enable MTP support.
   * debian/banshee.install:
     + Clean up a bit.

Since you've obviously done it before, can you try building SVN stable on Ubuntu to see if it works there? Sebastian Dröge has been pretty diligent about patching from SVN to fix bugs, so if it works there we might be able to get this fixed.

If not, maybe the problem is in an underlying library of which OpenSUSE had a different version.

Well, what we currently have _is_ latest stable SVN :)

So if it works there but not with the package that would be really interesting

Haha, I didn't realize. Well, I guess that rules that out. What kind of info
can we gather to submit a bug upstream? We may not be able to fix this
before we get all the device support in trunk, but at least we can have it
as close to the developers as possible.

Also, Apex, when did this last work? Maybe we can spot a regression.

I guess it would also help to have the complete console output, from start until everything is started and the device not detected.

I can't seem to build from SVN STABLE on Hardy, there are many dependencies missing and commenting out where it fails to configure isn't helping and the package is clearly installed that it's calling for. I was never able to get it to work in Ubuntu and have not used OpenSUSE since Hardy Alpha 5. Not sure if it's any help, but it works on Rthymbox with my player, just doens't sync the album art which I believe is a feature of Banshee.

Did you 'apt-get build-dep banshee'?

Yeah, unfortunately I'm getting an error with BooBuddy now. I'm on freenode as #dashua if you need me test anything to help get this working. Thanks for your help.

Latest updates with Hal have solved the issue. Banshee is syncing music and cover art to my iRiver Clix2 again. I'm not sure if it was the recent Banshsee update banshee (0.13.2+dfsg-9) or a combination of both because the Banshee update alone did not resolve the issue. Thanks for everyone help and advice.
