When I drag and drop a character from the character map into firefox, it turns into a code such as \ufb06 instead of the actual symbol.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

To replicate:
My system uses us-en. 8.04.1 Xubuntu.
Open Character Map, Firefox, and Bluefish Editor
Select a non- us-en character in Character Map (for example, Capital-O with a tilde '~').

1) Character Map --> Bluefish (expected result)
The character is shown properly

2) Character Map --> Firefox URL bar (actual result)
The character's UTF code is displayed instead of the character

Marking 'Confirmed', adding package 'firefox'

affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) → firefox (Ubuntu)
