Bug Description

Awn is positioned at top left of the screen on startup, over default ubuntu icons such as My PC, Home and such.

Also, when I hover Awn icons, the text describing each of them appears over the default ubuntu top bar buttons, like Applications, Places and System. As far as I could see, it is impossible to drag Awn to the botton of the screen. I could not find a place to set startup position using awn-manager. I had no luck with lsof | grep awn in the search for some .config file where I cold set screen placement.

I am trying to use Awn here since Gutsy and now with fully update Hardy with the same symptoms.

Also, I am not using Compiz: I am using the new metacity compositor which is on by default in Hardy.

Any ideas how I could fix this? Please tell me if you need any other information.

Regards,
Effenberg

Which version of Awn do you have installed?
How did you install it? (i.e., via a third party repo, from source, etc.)
Could you provide a screenshot of the behavior?

FYI, In most build configurations, Awn uses gconf to store configuration options.

I have installed Awn from the repos sometimes and also compiled it from scratch, folllowing the procedures described at the wiki (http://wiki.awn-project.org/index.php?title=Installation).

The currently installed version is 0.3.1

I have attached the requested screenshot.

I had the same problem before, but I managed to fix it. This is how I do it. Press Alt-F2, then enter gconf-editor. Go to apps->metaciy->general. Uncheck "disable-workabouts". Then go up to apps-> avant-window navigator--> bar. Look for "bar-pos" and enter .5 ( this will awn in the center of the screen. That's how i did it. One problem though, the bar appears on the bottom left for me, but the icons are in the center. so i disabled the bar by setting the value of "curviness" to 0. Let me know if this would fix your problem.
