Bug Description

Attempt to configure apt results in installation failure.

Testing Kubuntu Noble daily ISO dated 22-11-2023 received 2 errors and the install crashed.

1. apt configuration problem
2. the installer encountered an unrecoverable error

Hello leok,

Thank you for your bug report. Are you able to upload a copy of the /var/log/installer directory + a copy of the journal? The logs were not captured unfortunately.

There seems to be something wrong with today's ISOs (see bug 2044239) so maybe it also affects kubuntu images.

Hello Olivier -

Sorry the /var/log/installer directory is non-existint and the journal directory empty as well.

Will attempt to install on another nachine and see what happens.

Further to comment # 5 -

Attempt to install on machine # 2 - another crash - no logs and also nothing in writable partition on usb media.

I'm a bit confused. When I look at the syslog file that you shared, I see no occurrences of subiquity/ubuntu-desktop-installer but ubiquity seems to be running.

It looks more of a image building problem. Do you have more info?

Olivier - yes it looks like an image building problem to me as well - at any rate tested this with latest
Kubuntu daily ISO dated 23-11-2023 with no errors.
