Bug Description

Lubuntu 24.04 development branch @ 12/11/24 with kernel 6.5.0-9-generic

Calamares installer starts pretty well and proceeds the steps fine

but when the actual installing of packages is starting, the setup

feels rather slowly (around 30min) and then finishes well.

Hey, two questions for you...

 A) What is the exact version of calamares-settings-lubuntu installed on your system?
 B) Did you select *anything* during the Customize menu?

I'm still working out some of the issues with snap installs via that menu. If you *are* on the newest version of calamares-settings-lubuntu (and friends) but did *not* select any additional packages, well, Houston, we have a problem.

Thanks for what you do, I appreciate the bug report.

Ah, so apparently I can't read.

What kind of internet connection are you working with?

@19 simon

Im did the setup over wifi vdsl2 pretty fast connection

i noticed unpacking the packages from usb stick (2.0) was a bottleneck and the locale-gen was pretty slow too,

after 50% the install went much faster

I'm inclined to file this as Opinion for now, since installs can take some time, depending on the machine.

It's not something I can consistently reproduce on any of my hardware or VMs. Yes, every once in a while it has the ability to freeze for a minute or two, but I would like to hope it doesn't if I were to crank the system resources down.

If you can nail down what specifically is causing this Heisenbug, by all means.
