Bug Description

I found rpi4 not into desktop using Wayland, when I change to X11, it works!

The below is my experience, it show my what I try and why:

I got a new rpi4 yesterday and it works very well when I use an old rpi4 tf card(same memory). But when I use the newest Raspian(2023-10-10) or any version after 2020, it shows a colorful screen and black(no HDMI output). But I can use ssh, so it works, just not in desktop and HDMI output.

I try anything I can:
 - different system versions(2020 to 2023, only 2020-05-27 shows configure, but also shows "s too old, need newer"),
 - tf cards(both SanDisk Ultra 64GB, different production dates),
 - monitors(Dell U2723QE 4K or ThinkVision T24h-20 2K),
 - Power Adapters(Apple、MeiZu and other, even in USB power port from monitors, I use multimeter to measure they default output 5V3A)
 - move all usb device to boot.
 - modify the HDMI setting in /boot/config.txt, like hdmi_safe, hdmi_mode and etc.

They also work like above(sometimes show more, but finally it is black). So I'm sure these devices work well.

I also try use Ubuntu Server 22.04.3 LTS, it displays well.

I notice "On the Raspberry Pi 4, Wayland is used by default" in https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/computers/configuration.html. I remember old version use X11.

So I try to change it into X11, it is into desktop! So I think maybe there is a bug in Wayland?

Memory is 4GB
Tf card: SanDisk Ultra 64GB
System: Linux raspberrypi 6.1.0-rpi4-rpi-v8 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.1.54-1+rpt2 (2023-10-05) aarch64 GNU/Linux
