Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

The stylus worked perfectly in Gutsy, and I just did a fresh install of Kubuntu KDE4 Hardy Alpha 6. Now there is an entry for /dev/input/wacom but neither this nor xxd /dev/input/event[0-7] return any data for the pen. I even tried all the /dev/input/mouse combinations, but no data. I don't see any mention of a tablet /wacom /pen / stylus / eraser in either dmesg or xorg.conf.

wacdump /dev/input/wacom returns:
WacomOpenTablet: Connection Timed Out
after about 2 seconds

I have both xserver-xorg-input-wacom and wacom tools installed, and have restarted X and rebooted a number of times.

Any ideas?

You need to add the wacom entries in the xorg.conf. Does it work after adding them?

Fresh install of 7.10 didn't have them either, so if it worked there you upgraded from 7.04.

OK, yes it does.

It just threw me because with the new xorg it looked like there wasn't anywhere to put them. Added and now works fine. Let's close this sucker down.

Should be fixed in intrepid, since input-hotplug is in use.

Timo: Most unlikely; this are serial ports, not HID input devices...

Ok, so wacom needs to add some udev rules to set them up so that hal sees the device?
