Bug Description

Every boot, I get a notification that an important software update has been installed (localized in French so the actual wording might be slightly different). Said update always turns out to be the UEFI dbx, which was upgraded a few *weeks* (or even months?) ago.

I'm presumably not the only user in that situation:

My work around is to enable "Do not disturb" which remains active on restart.

I have been getting this message on every boot ("Software Update installed. An important OS Update has been installed.") ever since I upgraded to 2310. Today I upgraded to 2404 and it is still happening.

I just tried the suggestion above (sudo fwupdmgr get-updates) however the message is still displayed.

This Ask Ubuntu answer seems to provide a proper solution, but read it in full to make sure you diagnose any behind-the-scenes issue: https://askubuntu.com/a/1498444/38631

Thanks for the pointers to the workaround, that's greatly appreciated.

There is still an underlying integration issue here, as the user should
*not* have to got dig into fwupdmgr to clear that notification.

I have been experiencing this issue for months now (231 days to be precise according to fwupdmgr). I just upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04 and this problem persisted.

I also just found (as in a few minutes ago) the AskUbuntu post mentioned earlier and was finally able to fix it.
