sunbird 0.7 doesn't start with german locale

When setting the locale to C, sunbird does start.

I'm getting this error too.
Though if starting sunbird after doing a LANG=C,i'm getting a core dumped (see log attached; no backtrace yet)

Using ubuntu hardy beta up to date. (03/22/08)

Mozilla Sunbird 0.7, Copyright (c) 2004-2007 mozilla.org

I think I got an update lately, sunbird now starts with German locale for me.

Can you please give me version of sunbird you have installed?
apt-cache lightning-sunbird (or just sunbird) depending on what you installed.

Please file a seperate bug report and attach your crash log to the report. You should be able to use apport to report it and just double click the file in /var/crash from the file browser.
