For method 1, it should be noted that the value of region_name parameter in the clouds.yaml file is dependant if in distributed cloud architecture or not. I've not tested in a standalone configuration but in a subcloud architecture the region_name is the subcloud name, in my lab subcloud1.
Method 2 don't have this problem as the file is derived from /etc/platform/openrc file which contains the correct parameters.
