Three installs thus far today on this box, all has had calamares suggest me as being at New York USA.

If we still use that geolocation site anywhere, that's a bug. If Ubuntu's geolocation services are down, that's Canonical. I can't consistently reproduce this at the moment, but if you e.g. opened Ubuntu's geoip service in a browser, what does it give you?
