Bug Description

My Dell Precision 5570 hangs on restart, shutdown, and hibernate.
I'm running Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS and have full disk encryption (not sure if that's relevant).

I asked a couple of questions on Ask Ubuntu, but didn't get anything useful. Here they are:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1483865/suspend-not-working-ubuntu-22-04
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1484374/restarting-freezes-due-to-snap

It seems related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/finalrd/+bug/1905166 but after some digging around, I think it might be kernel related.

6.2.0-31-generic and 6.2.0-32-generic exhibit the problem, but 5.19.0-50-generic does not - when I load that version of the kernel the machine shuts down just fine.

I haven't tried running a newer kernel yet. I was going to file a bug report on kernel.org but they advise to file it with the distro.

I made 5.19.0-50 the default as a work around

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2036368/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
