Unable to play DAAP shared mpc files

Bug Description

I'm able to play .mpc files locally. However, when someone from the network share via DAAP a mpc file, Rhythmbox shows me a dialog for searching a suitable codec to play that file. Then, it searches for one and no one is found. At the end, it results that I'm not able to play .mpc files through DAAP.
I'll try to reproduce this error on another machine to discard a possible error of my configuration.

By the way, I'm using an updated ubuntu hardy for 64bits.

This is the output when I try to play the file:

** Message: don't know how to handle audio/x-musepack
Rhythmbox-Message: Missing plugin: gstreamer|0.10|rhythmbox|Musepack (MPC) decoder|decoder-audio/x-musepack
(rhythmbox:22359): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid unclassed pointer in cast to `GstMiniObject'
(rhythmbox:22359): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_mini_object_unref: assertion `mini_object->refcount > 0' failed

and then a dialog box appear. (see screenshots).

However, when I play the same file locally I do not get any error.

I have reproduced the same error, from another machine with a Debian unstable 64bits installed. That machine is able to play mpc songs locally, but fail when it tryes to play mpc songs via DAAP.

Hi there
could you please provide a sample file and some steps, in much details as you can, to reproduce this behavior.

Thanks in advance.

Okz, here we go... ;)

rhythmbox:

~$ rhythmbox --version
GNOME rhythmbox 0.11.4.90

file to play: (in the attahment)

~/Music/Slayer/God Hates Us All$ file 08\ -\ Seven\ Faces.mpc
08 - Seven Faces.mpc: Musepack audio, SV 7.0, quality 8 (BrainDead), Release 1.1

Procedure to reproduce the error:

a) We need two machines with rhytmbox installed. (In my case I have one with Ubuntu hardy 64bits and one Debian 64 bits unstable.) . Check that you have installed all the gstreamer plugins (good, bad, ugly, ugly-multiverse...). A quick way to do it is installing the metapackage ubuntu restricted extras.
b) Start rhytmbox in both machines from the command line (to see the output)
c) Add the attached file in the rhytmbox (or any other .mpc file) music library of both machines.
d) Try to play that file in both machines. It should be ok.
e) Enable the DAAP music share plugin in both rhythmbox instances. At these point you will be able to see the library of the other rhytmbox instance.
f) Try to play the same file, from the music shared by the other machine.
g) The error message in the command line and the dialog boxes explained before should appear.

It's these ok? If you need something else, just ask.
Thanks,

Salut!

more info:

~/Music/Slayer/God Hates Us All$ xdg-mime query filetype ./08\ -\ Seven\ Faces.mpc

audio/x-musepack

I did this because I realized that when I uploaded the previous attachment the MIME type was wrong identified. It is not chemical/x-mopac-input MIME type, it should be audio/x-musepack MIME type. But, this is another bug... ;)

Salut!

I still have the same issue.
Using an updated hardy release.
Can you be able to reproduce the error?

No i'm not able to reproduce this, can you forward it upstream since you're facing the issue? for forwarding instructions please have a look to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME ; leaving this as incomplete until that, thanks in advance.
