Confirmed on Dell Inspiron 1520, with an Nvidia card. CPU usage according to System Monitor is through the roof while the program is frozen.

Update on my above statement. CPU usage continued to be at 100% after killing Hardware Tester. It stayed that way until I rebooted, despite no obvious processes still running. Upon reboot I ran it again and the program ran through all its tests and finished normally.

Small detail that may or may not be relevant: the first time I ran it I wasn't asked about my network hardware. The second time I was, and that was the time it continued on to the end.

Same here.

After clicking the "Next" button (confirming "Moving the mouse should move the cursor on the screen. Is your mouse working properly?") my system halts for a few seconds (I can still move the mouse around - drag windows,...) and then decides to lock completely. No mouse movement, CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE and CTRL-ALT-DEL do not work anymore, the CAPS LOCK and SCROLL LOCK LEDs blinking (Num Lock off),... but I still hear harddisk activity now and then. Only a reset/power cycle still "works" after that. My system (desktop dual PII, no wireless) does not have ACPI - Ubuntu has a problem reading the DSDT.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to contact me if more info is needed.
