happened to me at a totally random time when I was paying no attention to Empathy.

upgraded to Intrepid 8.10 recently.

Just occurred on another laptop that was just installed within the past 3 days. Empathy was installed while the system was Hardy; upgrade-manager -d was done today; a few hours later he got this error message.
