[Hardy] Voxforge applet only shows grey box

When I visit http://www.voxforge.org/home/read it says that it is starting the java applet but then a grey box is all that appears on the screen.

I am running an up-to-date Hardy install.

icedtea-java7 have been removed from Hardy archive and replaced by openjdk-6. Can you reproduce this after installing icedtea-gcjwebplugin which replaces old icedtea7 plugin ? You should remove all other icedtea-java7 packages before installing the icedtea-gcjwebplugin package though.

Yes, I can reproduce it with icedtea-gcjwebplugin. The exact same behavior occurs as reported. Does it work for you, Matti?

As a side note, I can't install icedtea-gcjwebplugin through an up-to-date Firefox. When I click to install "gcjwebplugin (IcedTea)" (which is the only IcedTea option), it tells me that it cannot find the icedtea-java7 package. I presume that the Firefox plugin installer hasn't been updated to use the new name yet. Do I need to file this as a separate bug, or is it known?

Confirming, sun-java6-plugin prompts user to validate the applet certificate (and the applet works), but icedtea-gcjwebplugin (1.0-0ubuntu3) doesn't and fails with:

Unable to create temp directory
java.lang.SecurityException: Unable to create temporary file
Unable to create WAV cache file for storing audio
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission nullwavFile1.wav delete)

icedtea-gcjwebplugin install through firefox is tracked in bug #177514 assigned against ubufox package. The bug title is bit misleading though.
