Bug Description

I run Linux Mint on a pretty old HP laptop. Today I updated Ubuntu from 5.4.0-150 to -152.169 and the screen is _completely blank_ after reboot. Starting in recovery mode, the screen works but I get an infinite loop trying to update some (unspecified) video driver. I went through the whole process twice using different mirrors. I have reverted to -150 and everything is fine. For obvious reasons I cannot give you any output from the failing kernel. Were any drivers removed from -152?

FYI on the working kernel:

~$ sudo lshw -c video
[sudo] password for brian:

I ran apport-collect on the WORKING kernel, not on the failing one (-152.169). I hope it helps anyway.

Same problem with kernel 5.4-153-generic. Even if I start in recovery mode and let it look for driver updates, the problem remains - blank screen after normal reboot. I cannot advance beyond 5.4-150-generic
