Bug Description

I have a new Dell XPS 9315, with Ubuntu 22.04 installed (from vanilla image, downloaded from the Ubuntu site). The machine was sold with an OEM 20.04 image which I am no longer using.

From a full charge, I close the lid and the machine enters sleep. Over the course of 8Hrs, the battery drops from 100% to 80%.

Description: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
Release: 22.04

Ubuntu 5.19.0-43.44~22.04.1-generic 5.19.17

Ran another test, this time us Ubuntu 6.1.0-1013.13-oem 6.1.25

In approx. 9Hrs with the lid closed, the battery dropped from 100% to 78%

Can you please boot with kernel parameter "intel_pmc_core.warn_on_s0ix_failures=1", suspend overnight, resume the system and attach dmesg here? Thanks!

Will do.

Interestingly, XSP 13 comes with the disk controller set to RAID mode (I understand this is not RAID as such, but some performance feature). I tried switching it back to AHCI mode, set Ubuntu to PowerSaver mode, and closed the lid. Overnight, the power did not drain.

For objectivity, I will put the bios and power settings back to where they were and log dmesg as you suggest. Maybe it is helpful to repeat the the experiment with AHCI mode the following night.

Attached is the dmesg log as requested, with RAID enabled. Battery drain was 20% in approx. 8Hrs

This atachment is the output of lspci -vvv WITHOUT the RAID controller enabled (when the problem goes away) for contrast

This is the dmesg log WITHOUT the raid controller enabled (and no vampire drain)

Since I switched it back to AHCI mode in the BIOS, it has really improved. In RAID mode, the drain is very noticable. I'll be interested to know how you get on.
