Bug Description

Kubuntu version 23.04. I have verified that it exists on 2 different computers. numlock must be pressed twice to turn numlock on. On my other pc which was not a clean install but an updated version, it worked before the update, and stopped working after. On the clean install, it never worked.

Hi mate, I have exactly the same bug since I updated the 23.04 version. I hope Kubuntu will fix the bug as soon as possible. I truyed many changes but they don't work to fix the problem.

To clarify, it is not possible to turn numlock on by default, and must be pressed twice in SDDM to turn it on.

Hi, I have this same issue since the upgrate to Kubuntu 23.04
- sudo nano /etc/sddm.conf => [General] Numlock=on => the keyboard led is "on" but I need to toggle twice to be able to use digits on the login screen
- numlockx status => Numlock is on

I've removed the Numlock=on from the sddm.conf, now I just need to enable it instead of having to disable/enable it

Also affected by this.

I have noticed the following: when numlock=on in the sddm.conf file, the kb led is on, but using the keypad numeric keys doesnt produce any character in the password input field. However, pressing any other alphanumeric keys gives echoes the caracters correcly in the input field THEN its possible to use the numpad numbers as intended (no need to use the numlock key).

Its also possible to press alt+Numpad number to enter a digit directly in the password field (and this is only needed for the first character).

So, all in all, it seems that this bug is specifically impacting those users whose password begins with a number (and are using the numpad).

Maybe its a focus problem on the password input control?

I have the same issue.

Using a password that begins with any other alphanumeric key did not work for me.

Also I do not lock my session when suspending, but after resume the numeric keypad again does not work even thou the numlock light is on. could this be some other issue than sddm?

Did some digging.

With Numlock=on in the sddm.conf file.

press Alt + a number key on keypad.
numlock is now active and can enter numbers on the keypad without using Alt.

Interesting, that does work exactly as you said. Good workaround. One less keypress.
