Bug Description

When I came back to my computer, it was unresponsive to keyboard/mouse input and the display was frozen. Upon rebooting, I found the following error in the previous boot's log:

nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: fault 00 [READ] at 0000000004be0000 engine 1b [CE2] client 18 [HUB/GR_CE] reason 02 [PTE] on channel 2 [007f8d5000 Xorg[40960]]
nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: channel 2: killed
nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: runlist 0: scheduled for recovery
nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: engine 0: scheduled for recovery
nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: engine 7: scheduled for recovery
nouveau 0000:01:00.0: Xorg[40960]: channel 2 killed!

Unfortunately, Xorg.log had already been rotated, so I was not able to capture the issue from Xorg's side. I have attached apport output from a successful boot.

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.06 with xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.16-1 and linux-image-5.4.0-146-generic version 5.4.0-164.163. My graphics card is an "NVIDIA Corporation GK107GL [Quadro K2000]".

It's possible this is a duplicate of Debian bug #864349 <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=864349>
