Bug Description

I did an upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy Alpha 6 via "sudo update-manager -d" which went smoothly and without any errors until reboot. After reboot it got stuck on the ubuntu splashscreen for about 2-3 minutes. Then the system fell back to BusyBox (see Attachment), where i could enter some commands into the initramfs prompt. I tried this on a Centrino-Duo-Laptop with Intel-Chipset (Intel 965PM). Harddisks are connectet via SATA. Didn't find the exact same bug on launchpad and -- since this is my first report -- didn't know if this is related to update-manager or initramfs. So I hope this helps.

I'm having the same issue with an abit AN52 board that uses the Nvidia chipset. I thought something got screwed up when I upgraded to Hardy beta from Gutsy until I tried it with a brand new Alpha 6 livecd install on a different hard drive. It worked fine until I upgraded to the latest packages.
As a final test I've gone and gotten a Hardy Beta livecd iso and I'm trying one last time to prove to myself the bug is in Hardy. I'll be upgrading to the latest packages in a minute and I'll add a comment if anything changes.

I found a fix in bug #75055 and posted what I did in bug#33269 since it is triaged as high importance.
