Bug Description

The new font in lunar now makes apps use a bold font where it wasn't before, like for instance in rhythmbox in the music list etc, or firefox tab names, lauchpad "status/importance/milestone/" menus etc.

Does not see such issue here with Firefox on 23.04 Mate desktop (all installable 'proposed' packages installed, and system rebooted several times since fonts-ubuntu 0.863-0ubuntu1 upgrade)

I'm also seeing this in Google Docs when the Ubuntu font is used. It looks awful, especially when some of the text is in italic. I'm pretty sure it is bold, since selecting some text and marking it as bold makes no visible difference.

a screenshot

2.

org.gnome.desktop.interface font-rgba-order 'rgb'
org.gnome.desktop.interface monospace-font-name 'Ubuntu Mono 12'

after restarting rhythmbox it started working again, same with Firefox. Though now the font is considerably thinner than before, but that's already mentioned in 2011994
