Screen corruption using fglrx (latest version 8.3) on restore from suspend

Bug Description

When I suspend my laptop to RAM or to disk it successfully suspends, and also successfully restores. But the screen is corupted, it seems that every other line is shifted to the right (or left) and flickering.

It is clear enough to see the login screen on the screen saver, and logging out then back in (i.e. restarting X) solves the issue, but also defeats the point of suspending.

I am using fglrx 8.3 (released 5th March 2008) but the issue has been around since I first got my laptop to suspend in fiesty, but I can't seem to find a bug report which relates to my issue.

I am using an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 on an Acer Aspire 5502WXMi running Gutsy with all updates.

I don't get any errors because nothing crashes, it just corrupts the screen on restore.

I think you have a different issue as mine is severely worse than yours to the extent it is entirely unusable. It also seems to me that my problem is lower-level than yours.

I also have difficulty finding answers to this question as I don't know if it has any answers already. I am currently running fglrx 8.522 just installed yesterday on an ACER TM 3210. Kindly check the picture if that is the same problem you mean. Thanks.

I am willing to give more info but I don't know much about linux. So if anybody wants more info kindly tell me how to extract the info and I will post it here.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

The same still happens in 8.10. I haven't moved to 9.04 yet.

You must attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log from after reproducing the issue, and the output of `lspci -vvnn` before this can be upstreamed.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
