Enhancement Request: Valid/invalid metadata display options

Bug Description

Calibre 6.13

After Bug #2003652, the 'invalid metadata' was changed from green/red borders to a checkmark/red X.

Suggestion, if technically feasible: An option in Look & Feel (or a tweak) to choose between borders, icons, or both.

Thanks in advance.

This is not worth the effort for me personally. If some one else wants to implement it, I will be happy to supply any needed guidance. If so, re-open the ticket and we can discuss it.

Hello,
I personally have to sort through 500+ books on a weekly basis and correct their metadata. This change has been extremely detrimental and made my work take about 3x as long as it used to.

Are you saying that unless I want to waste 3x as much time every week, I am stuck forever on Calibre version V6.11, since that's when this (extremely unfavorable) change was made?

I only just noticed because we had to reinstall the system the library was stored on, and I downloaded the most recent version not knowing about the change. I have currently since downgraded to 6.11, however I would hate to be locked out of any future bugfixes/improvements over not being able to have the title/author sort boxes highlighted in red instead of having a tiny image/checkmark.

At the very least, borders _and_ icon combined should work, even if not user option.

@Not important & @owned_by_cats: just a little bit of hyperbole, hmmmm? Oh my, the sign at my local petrol station changed from large blue to small green. Now I can no longer find the station to fill up the tank!

@Charles Haley hyperbole? My usual round of checking sort data on 572 books took about 2.7x as long (task time as registered by the system) as it did last week when I still used a lower version when I did 588 books, and 2.6x as long as the week before when I did 551 books. Thankfully for my time tracking I can actually tell you that, without hyperbole, it took me nearly 3x as long as it did before.
Thank you for your completely useless contribution to this request. Now please remove yourself.

I have failed to notice that searches were invalid because the width of the search field makes it makes it makes it sometimes hard to notice the icon at the end.

@not important: Assuming your numbers are not made up, simply spend a few hours using the new interface and you will find that once you get used to it, your numbers will go back to what they were. Not to mention that you dont actually need to check sort data, calibre will auto correct it for you using the bulk metadata edit dialog. So yes keep the hyperbole under control.

@ownedbycats: I am actually ok with implementing both, that requires much less work.
