the attached logfile indicates this is a bug in the yaml-mode package. Can you try to uninstall it before installing/upgrading emacs-snapshot?

Closer look to the log file shows the error arises from haxe-mode.el (not from yaml-mode.el). Reassigning there.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 9.04?

It is unlikely that I will use 9.04 or Emacs in the near future, so unless someone else has experienced this problem I guess you can close the bug as "didn't fix", if that's an option...
