Version 0.5.0 was released 2 years ago, I would really suggest to get newer version.
However, I'm not sure how to get it in Raspberry PI OS, I never had one nor used one :(
I can try to gather info on how to install package manually, but that would be half the issue, I need to build one too on Raspberry OS.

Meanwhile, we need to figure out, why the notifications actually are not showing.
You see, log files do not contain much information, probably because logging level is low, please enable logging level to 2 and the send the log file.
Please send me the configuration files too, without them I can not determine, how much time you have assigned to user and whether notification should show up at all.

Do not forget to include client log and configuration files because they govern notification thresholds.

Maybe start with getting a little newer version from http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/timekpr-next/ , I think you need to choose armhf version, but I don't know which RPI you're using.

log level is already 2.
Final Notification is set to 60 seconds

i updated to 0.5.2-1+b1 (arm64, RPI4)

attached you find the latest log + .conf

at 2023-01-11 17:30:52.382201 it kills the process - but there wasn't any notification before!

when i restart the process it gets terminated immediately - without notification.

notify-send works!

Thanks for log files, I'll check them.

Timekpr-next does NOT use notify-send, it uses DBUS to send notifications.

I checked configuration and log files, it looks like you set up PlayTime for 180 seconds (3 minutes) and PlayTime notification is set for 180 seconds (3 minutes) too.

Timekpr will not show PlayTime notifications at 1 minute mark, because there is no notification set up at that time.

Please change PlayTime notification configuration in "icon" (also called client application) to 45 seconds or 1:30 minute or 1 minute and retry the test.

Also, please enable logging level in "icon" to 2 and get client log file too. After the test, if it still did not work, please gather the same log files you already did as well as client log file /tmp/timekprc.*.log and add to this bug report.

If all went well, please reduce logging to lvl 1 in both, admin app and client app, that should help with whatever storage you have in RPi.
