Não execução de música apenas com passando o mouse sobre ela

Quando eu usava o ubuntu 7.04, só em passar o mouse sobre a música e deixá-lo sobre ela, aparecia um pequeno balão(com do desenho de uma nota musical nele) no ícone da música e ela começava a tocar automaticamente, sem necessidade de abrir um player para isso.
Depois que atualizei para o ubuntu 7.10 esse recurso sumiu, inclusive não só aqui em casa, mas também nos computadores do laboratório do Curso de Ciência da Computação da UFCG, universidade na qual eu estudo.

Queria queria que esse bug fosse resolvido para a versão 8.04, pois eu e vários usuários ubuntu gostamos desse recurso que deixou de existir.
