Bug Description

I am new to Ubuntu and have installed 7.10. I downloaded the Opera Browser. When attempting to install the package installer give me the status: Error cannot install "libqt3-mt" . No indication as to what to do next? Help

I have also encountered this problem. I followed the instructions in Ubuntu question #22578 with the relevant results quoted below. Still can not install Opera. Any other suggestions?

sudo apt-get install opera

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
opera: Depends: libqt3-mt (>= 3:3.3.8really3.3.7) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

This doesn't appear to be a problem with opera but rather with QT. Try installing libqt3-mt by itself and see what error you receive.
