getting not on server list when trying to add a buddy how do i fix

i have used pidgin successfully for ages but now i can no longer add buddies as it comes up with a message not on server list, and I know that they are, please advise, I have ubuntu 7.10

Thanks for your report. Can you be a bit more specific, which protocol is this for? Is it every buddy or just some?

This bug is not fixed. Even I am having this trouble with both yahoo and hotmail buddies.

I have the same bug with MSN Buddies, using Pidgin 2.5.5 on Ubuntu 9.04.
Why not adding the possibility to not synchronising server and local list?

Since 2.4, it seems to be fixed in Yahoo, however for me not in MSN:
