Bug Description

Version 2.2.1.1-1 in kinetic-release and lunar-release depends on a non-existing package. That has been corrected:

https://salsa.debian.org/debian/maliit-keyboard/-/commit/0684fe2f

but the excuses page seems to not acknowledge the correction for the version in lunar-proposed:

https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#maliit-keyboard

Since maliit-keyboard depends on libpinyin13/libpinyin15, this in turn blocks the libpinyin transition from being done in Ubuntu.

Can this be resolved with a Britney hint or something?

Hmm.. The problematic dependency was added only in maliit-keyboard 2.3.1-1, which never made it to -release in Ubuntu. (The Debian bug was misleading wrt version.)

But why is it still complaining about version 2.3.1-3.1 in lunar-proposed, where the faulty dependency has been corrected?

I was confused, and Rik Mills pointed me in the right direction on #ubuntu-desktop. Thanks! The problem was that the dependency maliit-framework had not been updated, and that in turn was caused by an Ubuntu delta preventing autosync with Debian.

The delta was mostly due to C++ and a symbols file. I have previously figured out a smooth way to get rid of such deltas:

* Build the package in Debian with LTO enabled
* Adapt the symbols file accordingly

Then the symbols file will work in Ubuntu too.

Now I have successfully applied that approach for maliit-framework:

Closing this bug.
